What is Azure Virtual Desktop?
Microsoft describes Azure Virtual Desktop (commonly referred to as AVD) as a desktop and app virtualisation service that runs on the cloud.
In short, AVD is Windows in the Cloud.
From a user’s perspective AVD looks and feels just like a normal Windows PC. However, there are a number of significant benefits to your business owing to fact that it runs in the cloud rather than on a physical laptop or desktop computer.
With Windows in the Cloud – You Don’t Need to Run it on Your Computer.
Windows has quite a large footprint. It takes up space and uses resources on your PC, which make it run slower over time. It is also vulnerable to viruses and other malware.
Fortunately, we have a better solution…
Why Cognition Cloud?
The license to use AVD is ‘free’ if you have eligible Windows, Microsoft 365, or Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Client Access Licenses.
Azure infrastructure costs on the other hand are charged based on consumption. Costs for virtual machines, storage and networking can mount up very quickly. This can make AVD seem prohibitively expensive.
As a Micrsoft Partner, Cognition Cloud has the experience and the tooling to optimise costs for the performance level that your business needs. This allows us to provide you with a fixed monthly bill. Our packages include your M365 subscription, which not only gives you access to AVD, but also the full suite of Office Applications together with Microsoft’s top level security package.
Why Cognition Cloud?
Cognition Cloud takes all the day-to-day management and administration of your virtual desktop environment off your hands. This includes more complex tasks such as application packaging and deployment, release management and ensuring software versions are kept up to date.
Our standard package also includes endpoint software and management. It your are running Windows, your endpoints are your biggest security vulnerability. We solve this problem by removing Windows from the endpoint and putting it in the cloud.
